Norway Bombing Suspect Returns To The Place Of Shooting

Today, Norway’s accused suspect of ambushing a political youth retreat and killing dozens of people last month returned to the island where the shooting rampage took place as part of a police investigation, according to the authorities.

Anders Behring Breivik, the suspect “was not emotionaly unmoved,” but did not express remorse during his return to Utoya island Saturday, police said. They spent nearly eight hours questioning Breivik Sunday and walking with him around the island during a reconstruction of last month’s attack. “He did not express any regrets about what he had done,” Police Prosecutor Pal-Fredrik Hjort Kraby told reporters.

“The whole thing was quite intense,” Hjort Kraby said. Breivik is accused of the July 22 bombing of Oslo government buildings in which eight people died and a shooting rampage on the island which killed 69.

Most of the 600 people at the ruling Labour Party’s youth camp ran down a hill and to the water, according to the survivors. They said the shooter came after them, screaming “You are all going to die!” The gunman aimed for those who desperately tried to swim toward safety, survivors said.

“The reconstruction was a necessary step in the police investigation, but “had to be conducted in a way not offending the victims and their relatives”, according to Hjort Kraby.

Breivik’s lawyer told reporters last month that his client was “a little bit surprised” that he was able to pull off the bombing and shooting rampage, for which authorities say he has claimed responsibility.

Amy Winehouse Found Dead In London

The London’s soul diva Amy Winehouse was found dead in her apartment in London last Saturday. Initial reports said that drug overdose was the cause of death of the singer.

The Grammy award winning singer shot to fame in 2006 with the album “Back to Black,” whose blend of jazz, soul, rock and classic pop became a worldwide hit and introduce her to the international stardom.

London Ambulance Services said Winehouse had died before the two ambulance crews it sent arrived at the scene. It was confirmed by the Police department that the 27-year-old female was pronounced dead at the home in Camden Square northern London and the cause of death was not immediately known.

She likely died from a drug overdose, given Winehouse’s long, documented history of drug abuse it’s likely that her death was in fact related to drugs in some way.

“Peter Pan – A Musical Adventure” The Asian Premiere set to open on September 29

The timeless tale about “the boy who never grew up” is reborn !!!!

Come and join us on a thrilling musical journey to ” Never Land ” as Sir James Barrie’s classic legend is magically brought to life in the spectacular Asian premiere of ” PETER PAN – A MUSICAL ADVENTURE ” set to open on September 29, 2011 at the Meralco Theater.

The legend of PETER PAN has been delighting children for over 100 years. This faithful new version which will be first seen in Asia, promises to be a festive adventure with stunning scenery, show-stopping performances, swashbuckling sword fights, jaw dropping and breath-taking flying scenes.

Produced by Repertory Philippines and Stages Production Specialists, ” PETER PAN – A MUSICAL ADVENTURE ” with book by the late Willis Hall and music and lyrics by award-winning duo George Stiles and Anthony Drewe (Broadway’s MARY POPPINS and HONK!, among other works) is a charm of a musical with its ability to generate a real sense of magic and wonder.

The musical opened in Denmark, Copenhagen in 1996 and won two top awards for Best Song (“When I Kill Peter Pan”) and The Orchestra’s Award at the International Musical Of The Year. The production was first broadcast in 2001 as a New Year’s Eve concert on BBC Radio 3 and was later presented at Festival Hall in the 2002-2003 Christmas period. Since then, Stiles & Drewe extensively revised the show for a stunning new production with its United Kingdom theatre premiere. In 2007-2008, the show played at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, directed by Rachel Kavanaugh and a year later, it moved to the West Yorkshire Playhouse.

The musical is set in bustling Edwardian suburbia, and the normality of a children’s nursery. The magic really starts with the ingenious introduction of Tinkerbell, a tiny red dot zipping around and disrupting the toys. Peter and the Darling family are whisked away to the famous land full of colorful characters including the Lost Boys, Mermaids, Crocodile, Tiger Lily and, of course, the dastardly Captain Hook.

Theater stalwarts JAIME DEL MUNDO and MENCHU LAUCHENGCO-YULO shall sprinkle a touch of fairy dust and put together their creative artistry as co-directors of this musical. With an amazingly talented cast and production team, rehearsals for this year’s musical spectacular have commenced and the show is already starting to come together.

The all-star cast will have audiences hooked as SAM CONCEPCION marks his role as Peter Pan – an athletic young boy full of energy, commanding, yet sensitive leader of the Lost boys.

MICHAEL WILLIAMS is Captain Hook, a delightfully evil character & nemesis to Peter. JAIME DEL MUNDO is Mr. George Darling, a stern and unimaginative but loving father. PINKY MARQUEZ is the gentle and caring mother, Mrs. Mary Darling.

TIPPY DOS SANTOS and CARA BARREDO alternate as Wendy Moira Angela Darling, the eldest of the Darling children. A very pleasant and charming girl who takes on role of “mother” to the lost boys.

NACHO TAMBUNTING plays the role of John Darling, Wendy’s younger brother, a bookish young teen-ager who has always dreamed of being in a big adventure.

JUAN MIGUEL SANTOS plays the role of Michael Darling, the typical youngest child who doesn’t want to miss what everyone else is doing.

ROBIE ZIALCITA is Smee, Captain Hook’s comedic sidekick. A character in direct contrast to Hook in appearance and physical stature.

KYLA RIVERA is Tiger Lily – a cute, perky, willful princess of the Indian tribe.

JOY VIRATA as the older Wendy Darling.

The Lost Boys of Never Land will be played by GEORGE SCHULZE, KEVIN CONCEPCION, JAY PANGILINAN, BYM BUHAIN, JEJIE ESGUERRA, JUSTIN VALIENTE and CHRIS HABIBIB while the Pirates will be played by LORENZ MARTINEZ, JAMES STACEY, HANS ECKSTEIN, EDU BRIONES, MEYNARD PEÑALOSA, KUYA MANZANO and CHINO VEGUILLAS.

Tinker Bell – a fairy, represented only by a tiny flashing light. Her “dialogue” is only heard as tinkling music. She does not speak as we know it, and the other characters “translate” what she “says”.

Liza – the Darling family’s pleasant maid.

Nana – the dog/nurse – very expressive and central to the Darling household.

Jane – Wendy’s daughter – reminiscent of Wendy in appearance and manner – appears in the final scene to return to Neverland with Peter

” PETER PAN – A MUSICAL ADVENTURE ” is a perfect treat for the whole family.

” PETER PAN – A MUSICAL ADVENTURE ” shall run from September 29 – October 30, 2011 with shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and matinee shows on Saturdays and Sundays at 3:30 p.m. All performances are at the Meralco Theater, Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City.

The artistic and creative team of “PETER PAN” is led by Baby Barredo (Artistic Director), Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo (Associate Artistic Director), Audie Gemora (President of STAGES), Jaime del Mundo / Menchu Lauchengco- Yulo (Directors), John Batalla (Lighting Designer), Gino Gonzales (Set Designer), Raven Ong (Costume Designer).

“PETER PAN’s” production staff is composed of Gidget Tolentino (Production Manager) assisted by Jingay Kaimo of STAGES, Ayam Barredo (Company Manager), Ed Lacson (Stage Manager), Pol Roxas (Sound Technician), Pablito Salvador (Lighting Technician) and Adul Lasin (Set Execution and Scenic Artist).

Asteroid 2011 MD Will Fly Close To Earth’s Surface Monday

The United States’ National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) posted on their official website last Friday the news about an asteroid with 5 to 20 meters in diameter will pass by the Earth, whipping 12,000 kilometers from the planet’s surface on June 27, Monday at 9:30 p.m. Manila time.

2011 MD “will reach its closest Earth approach point in extreme southern latitudes, in fact over the southern Atlantic Ocean,” according to NASA.

“Asteroid 2011 MD” found in the space rock by NASA’s Near Earth Object Project Office discovery team in Socorro, New Mexico. NASA added that “an orbital analysis indicates there is no chance it will actually strike Earth.”

2011 MD will fly by our planet without harming it. According to NASA, “The incoming trajectory leg passes several thousand kilometers outside the geosynchronous ring of satellites and the outgoing leg passes well inside the ring,” asteroid will also miss the many satellites circling the planet. 2011 MD can be seen bright enough in the skies using a modest-sized telescope, the agency said.

Rizal’s Tallest Statue Unveiled In Calamba, Laguna

President Benigno Aquino III led the unveiling of the tallest Jose Rizal statue in the world in birthplace of the Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal in Calamba, Laguna on Sunday morning in the celebration of Rizal’s 150th birth anniversary.

Radio dzRB reported that President Aquino was welcomed by officials and received full arrival honors before the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies.

The tallest statue of the national hero of the Philippines broke the record of the Rizal monument in Nueva Vizcaya, which is 18.6 feet tall. The tallest statue in Calamba, Laguna stands 6.9 meters, or 22 feet tall.

Dr. Jose Rizal was born in Calamba, Laguna on June 19, 1861. The statue is the city’s gift to Rizal. The monument is located in front of the new Calamba City Hall.

It was sculpted by Jonas Roces. The statue stands 22 feet to represent the 22 dialects spoken by Rizal including English, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian and Spanish.

Before the green sheet covering the statue was removed, the crowd shouted, “Dr. Jose Rizal, haligi ng bayan!” Rizal’s newest monument is expected to be a tourist and historical landmark, not only in Calamba, but in the whole world.

Relatives of Rizal were present during the unveiling. Also in attendance at Sunday’s event were diplomats from other countries, including Germany and Spain.
